Hey everyone, I just wanted to share my experience with integrating the Bose SA-5 amplifier into my smart home setup. It’s been a fun journey, and I thought I’d document some of the challenges and triumphs I’ve encountered along the way.\First off, I purchased the Bose SA-5 to plug into my integrated house speakers, aiming to stream music and notifications throughout my home. I’ve been using the Bose SoundTouch 10 successfully for notifications, but the SA-5 has been a bit of a puzzle. I suspect it’s due to the Device Handler (DH) it’s using, which doesn’t seem to support notifications. I tried switching the DH from “LAN Bose SoundTouch No Notification” to “LAN Bose SoundTouch,” but it reverted back. However, I noticed I could switch to an unrelated DH without issues—strange behavior indeed!\Despite the initial setbacks, I’ve managed to get things working smoothly. The Bose SA-5 now integrates beautifully with my smart home ecosystem, allowing me to stream music and notifications effortlessly. It’s been a great addition, especially for those late-night alerts when I want to scare off any unexpected visitors with a blast of my favorite tunes.\On a lighter note, I’ve also been tinkering with my Samsung TV and Denon 3400 (Heos) system. Running a server on a Raspberry Pi, I built a device handler that can turn the TV on and off, even when it’s been off for a while, thanks to Power over IP! For the Denon, I created a handler that operates in three modes: Zone1, Zone2, and All Zones, controlling volume, inputs, and more. It’s been a fantastic way to streamline my home theater experience.\I’d love to hear from others who’ve successfully integrated Bose or other audio systems into their smart homes. Any tips, tricks, or favorite configurations would be greatly appreciated! Let’s keep the smart home fun rolling!\Cheers, [Your Name]
