Building a Reliable Motion Sensor and Exploring Secure Authentication

Hey everyone, I wanted to share my recent project where I built a MQTT-based motion sensor using a Wemos D1 Mini and a PIR HC-SR501 sensor. It’s been working flawlessly with my Home Assistant setup, and I thought it might inspire others looking for a budget-friendly solution. The process was a bit of a hack, but it works perfectly for my needs! I’d love to hear if anyone has similar setups or improvements they’ve made.

On another note, I’ve been thinking about security in smart home setups. I came across a proposal for implementing Passkeys as a stronger authentication method for platforms like OpenHAB. It’s a great idea, and I wonder how feasible it would be to integrate this into mainstream systems. Would anyone be interested in seeing this feature added? It could significantly enhance security without sacrificing convenience.

I’m also curious if anyone has experience with integrating multiple smart devices from different brands seamlessly. I’m always looking for tips on making my setup more robust and user-friendly. Thanks for reading, and I look forward to your thoughts!
