Building a Smart Beauty Salon: Camera and Door Solutions

Hi everyone, I hope you’re all doing well! I’ve been using SmartThings for over a year now, and it’s been a fantastic experience.[] I’m currently working on a exciting project—building a smart beauty salon next to my house for my wife. I’d love to incorporate SmartThings into the salon, but I have a few questions and could really use some advice from the community.

Do I need a second hub? I’m currently using a Hub V2, and I have an old Hub V1 that I’m not using. The salon is about 75 feet away from the main hub. I have Z-Wave switches and repeaters throughout the house, but I’m not sure if I need another Hub V2 for the salon. I’d appreciate any insights on this!

Front Door Setup: The salon has a front door for customers and a back door for us. For the front door, I need a smart doorbell, a recessed door sensor, a normal lock, and an electromagnetic lock. I’d like to use a wireless button, similar to the Aeon panic button, to control the electromagnetic lock. When pressed, the lock should release power until the door sensor detects it’s open, then re-engage. I’m not sure which momentary switch to use for this setup, so any recommendations would be great!

Cameras: I’m also looking for an outdoor camera with motion detection. I need it to record clips when motion is detected, and my wife will use a tablet in the salon to check who’s at the door. I’ve looked at Blink, Netatmo, and D-Link cameras, but I’m not sure which one would be best. Any suggestions would be really helpful!

Other Smart Features: I’m using Sonoff switches for all the electrical machines and lights, and I’m really happy with them. I’ve installed around 20 of them so far. I’m also using RGBW LED strips for both indoor and outdoor lighting, which adds a nice touch to the salon. For music, I’m planning to use Chromecast Audio with ceiling speakers, even though it doesn’t integrate directly with SmartThings.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on the camera options, door setup, and whether a second hub is necessary. I’m also open to any other tips or recommendations for making the salon as smart and efficient as possible. Thanks in advance for your help![]
