Hi everyone,
I’m in the midst of building a smart home and have been relying on Shelly devices for their affordability and Australian certification. My friend suggested Shelly, and so far, I’m impressed with their performance. However, I want to ensure I’m making the best choices for my setup, especially since I’m learning as I go.
Here’s a quick overview of my plan:
Upstairs
- Living Room: Shelly dimmer for ambiance.
- Dining Room: Shelly dimmer with capacitor for energy efficiency.
- Kitchen: Shelly dimmer for task lighting and Shelly 1+ for additional control.
- Master Bedroom: Clipsal Zigbee dimmer for compatibility with existing 3-way switches.
- Entryway: Clipsal Zigbee dimmer for seamless integration.
- Powder Room: Shelly 2.5 for convenience and Shelly dimmer with capacitor for late-night use.
- Study: Shelly 1+ for flexible lighting options.
- Porch: Shelly 1+ for exterior lighting control.
- Stairs: Shelly 2.5 and Shelly dimmer with capacitor for safety and ambiance.
Downstairs
- Multipurpose Room: Shelly dimmer with capacitor for versatile lighting.
- Bedrooms: Shelly dimmer with capacitor for consistent and efficient lighting.
- Bathrooms: Shelly dimmer and Shelly 1+ for practical and energy-efficient solutions.
I’m particularly excited about integrating the Zhender HRV system into my setup and would love to hear how others have automated their HRV systems. Additionally, I’m curious about the community’s thoughts on using Shelly devices for such a comprehensive setup. Is there anything I should be cautious about or any alternative solutions that might offer better performance or longevity?
I’m also considering whether to stick with Wi-Fi for all devices or if there are benefits to incorporating Zigbee or another protocol for certain components. Any insights or experiences would be greatly appreciated!
Looking forward to your thoughts and tips!
Best regards,
