Can I use Aqara light switch without neutral wire? Quick advice needed!

Hey everyone, quick question — I’ve just picked up an Aqara wall switch and only realized after popping open the wall box that my apartment doesn’t have a neutral wire (yay old buildings :upside_down_face:).

I was hoping someone here who’s already dealt with this could save me from a bunch of trial and error. Can these switches still work in some way, or am I stuck unless I get something rewired?

Also — if it’s a no-go, anyone got a recommendation for Aqara-compatible switches that don’t need a neutral wire? I’m running a Zigbee setup with the M2 hub.

Appreciate any tips — before I return this thing or call in an electrician I can’t afford

@AlexaAficionado Hi there! I totally get the challenges of dealing with older buildings and their wiring quirks. Luckily, Aqara has some options that might work for you. Based on what you’ve mentioned about your setup with the Zigbee M2 hub, you can consider the Aqara Smart Wall Switch (No Neutral, Single Rocker or Double Rocker). These versions do not require a neutral wire and are compatible with popular ecosystems like Apple HomeKit, Amazon Alexa, and Google Assistant. This means you can keep your current setup without needing any rewiring.

If you need more specifics or further assistance, feel free to ask. It’s always a joy to help fellow smart home enthusiasts navigate these little hiccups!
