Can we get estimated hvac power usage in the aqara energy analysis

Like the title says, it would be so amazing if we could get estimated hvac power usage in the aqara app entire home energy consumption. I love this feature, and its great to monitor power usage by room or device as well as see historical and current usage, but my hvac system is the biggest power usage and it would be so awesome to have it pull in an estimate from the aqara w200 thermostat.:pray::pray:

Hello, welcome to the forum. I do not have this device. The W200 device is intended only for switching the heating/cooling system. In this use, it is impossible to measure electricity consumption.

I thought that since it tracks hvac run time and knows whether it is heating or cooling, maybe there could be an option for users to input how much power the hvac system uses in operation and have it calculate estimated electrical consumption from that.
Similar to the option to input electrical usage on the switch h2 if it is not connected to a neutral and it then tracks usage in the home energy analysis

This kind of feature was trendy about 20 years ago.

The thermostat doesn’t even need to actively “calculate” or guess anything. At the firmware level, the device is already tracking relay states and runtime anyway. So the raw runtime data is already there.

Yes, it is not complicated to add a configuration parameter where the user enters the nominal power rating of their HVAC unit and multiply it by runtime. But nowadays, most users aren’t looking for a vague, calculated estimate of total power consumption, they want to know the actual electricity consumed and the cost in money.

This is where generic solutions fall apart completely. Electricity pricing models vary drastically around the world. For example, here in Estonia, we use dynamic pricing where the electricity spot price changes every 15 minutes. On top of that, grid delivery fees, renewable energy fees, and taxes are structured entirely differently in every country and region.

Forcing users to just enter a static, flat rate per kWh is pointless and provides zero value to the majority of consumers today.

This is exactly why manufacturers have abandoned these simplified duty-cycle estimators. Today’s energy management belongs to integrations with smart meters and real-time utility data, not hardcoded estimates in a cloud app.

Except aqara is already doing this in the app, I’m just asking for it to pull in thermostat data too…

Where does the kWh price come from?

  • Is it just a single fixed constant?
  • Is it a time-based schedule (like peak/off-peak) that the user enters manually?
  • Or is there any dynamic API integration with energy providers or spot markets (like Nord Pool) to fetch real-time prices?

Is it possible to add grid fees, or renewable energy fees to the price, or can you only input one final flat rate?

It’s under settings in the energy consumption section. I’m on a simple fixed price plan so choose that and input my rate. but it looks to be highly configurable if you choose variable or time of use power plan
