I recently purchased Aqara T2 GU10 LED bulbs with Matter support. When attempting to add them directly to Apple Home (using an AppleTV or even switching to a HomePod as the Matter controller), the setup process consistently gets stuck on “Setting up…” and never completes.
Iphone & AppleTV are on OS26 respectively
Steps I’ve tried:
-
Resetting the bulbs (power cycle 5x until they blink)
-
Retrying QR code and manual Matter code entry.
-
Ensuring my AppleTV is updated and running a Thread network.
-
Rebooting AppleTV and iPhone.
-
Checking for and removing any “No Response” ghost entries in the Home app.
Thank you in advance for any assistance.
@oneillfc I’m sorry to hear that you’re having trouble adding your Aqara T2 GU10 LED bulbs to Apple Home. Based on the information you’ve provided, here are some additional steps you can try:
First, make sure that your Aqara T2 GU10 LED bulbs are properly reset. To reset the bulbs, you can turn the device off and on 5 times, with a 1 - second pause in between. This will only clear the network pairing, without deleting other settings and records. If you want a factory reset, turn the device off and on 10 times, with a 1 - second pause in between. This will restore the device to its original settings, clearing all configurations and data .
Next, ensure that your Apple TV and iPhone are running the latest software updates. Sometimes, software glitches can cause issues with device pairing.
Also, check that your Apple TV is configured as a Thread Border Router and is properly connected to your home network.
If the problem persists after trying these steps, it might be a good idea to reach out to Apple’s customer support or Aqara’s customer service for further assistance. You can contact Aqara’s customer service team by Aqara Home App (Profile>Help&Feedback>Customer Service) or scanning the QR code:

@oneillfc It sounds like you’ve already taken some solid troubleshooting steps—kudos for being thorough! Let’s try to narrow this down based on what we know about the Aqara T2 GU10 and Matter setup.
First, let’s confirm the reset method: The T2 GU10 has two reset types—power cycling 5 times clears network pairing (but keeps other settings), while 10 times does a full factory reset (clearing all configurations) . Since you’ve tried 5x, maybe a full factory reset (10x) could help ensure no leftover settings are interfering.
For Matter pairing, the bulb should enter pairing mode automatically after powering on, indicated by two breathing cycles (fading in/out) before staying on . If this isn’t happening, double-check the power cycle to ensure it’s properly in pairing mode.
Apple Home/Matter setups also rely on Thread and network conditions. From Matter troubleshooting, ensure your router supports IPv6 (a requirement for Matter) and that it’s enabled . Even though you’re using AppleTV/HomePod as the Thread Border Router, the underlying network needs IPv6 to function smoothly.
Additionally, verify that your AppleTV/HomePod is indeed acting as the primary Thread Border Router (check in Apple Home settings). If there are multiple Thread devices, ensure they’re on the same network.
If the issue persists, you might also try removing the bulb from any other apps (like Aqara Home) if it was previously added, as Matter devices can sometimes have pairing conflicts.
Give these a shot and let us know how it goes—community members might also have additional tips based on their experiences! If you still hit a wall, reaching out to Aqara support could help dig deeper into device-specific logs.
Hope this helps get those bulbs up and running!
@oneillfc It sounds like you’ve already taken some solid troubleshooting steps—kudos for trying resetting, code entry, and checking updates! Let’s see if we can narrow this down further.
First, double-check if the bulb is entering pairing mode correctly. When powered on, the T2 GU10 should complete two breathing cycles (fading in and out) before staying on, indicating it’s ready to pair . If this isn’t happening, you might want to try a factory reset (turn off/on 10 times with 1-second pauses) to clear all configurations, which is more thorough than the 5x network reset .
Since you’re using Apple Home, ensure your AppleTV/HomePod (as the Thread Border Router) is properly connected to the same network as your iPhone. If you recently created or modified your Thread network, Matter devices may need to be reconnected .
If the issue persists, you could also try removing the bulb from any other ecosystems (if added) and re-adding it fresh to Apple Home.
Hopefully, one of these tweaks helps—let us know how it goes! If others in the community have faced similar issues, sharing their tips would be great too.

@oneillfc I’m sorry to hear you’re having trouble setting up your Aqara T2 GU10 bulbs with Apple Home. Let’s try to troubleshoot based on the information we have:
First, ensure the bulb properly enters pairing mode. After powering on, the bulb should complete two breathing cycles (fading in and out) before staying on at constant brightness, indicating it’s ready for pairing . If you start setup before this, it might cause delays.
You mentioned resetting with 5 power cycles, which clears network pairing but retains other settings . If the issue persists, try a factory reset by turning the bulb off and on 10 times (1-second pause between each), which restores it to original settings . This can resolve lingering configuration issues.
Additionally, confirm your AppleTV/HomePod is functioning as a Thread Border Router. While the bulb supports Matter and HomeKit , ensure no other Thread devices are interfering with the network.
If these steps don’t work, feel free to share more details—like whether the bulb’s indicator behaves as expected during setup—and the community can help further.
Hope this gets your bulbs up and running!
