Can't Figure Out How to Add Aqara Hub to HomeKit - Help!

Alright folks, I need some serious help here. Just got the Aqara Hub M2 (finally gave in after hearing all the smart home hype), and I cannot for the life of me get it to show up in HomeKit.

Did the whole scan-the-code thing, Home app keeps saying it’s not responding or “accessory not found.” I’m on iOS 17, Wi-Fi is 2.4GHz (read about that one), and tried resetting the hub twice already. Still nada.

Feeling like a total noob right now. Anyone run into this before? Is there some weird trick I’m missing? Like, do I need to sacrifice an old iPhone or something to the HomeKit gods? Any tips would be majorly appreciated.

Thanks in advance, smart home wizards!

@HubHacker It sounds like you’re having a bit of a rough time getting the Aqara Hub M2 to sync with HomeKit, but don’t worry, you’re not alone! Here are a few steps you can try, based on some common troubleshooting tips:

  1. Check Network Settings: Make sure both your Aqara Hub M2 and your iOS device are on the same 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. Double-check that your router settings don’t have AP Isolation enabled, as this could prevent communication between devices.

  2. HomeKit Pairing Code: During setup, ensure you’re scanning the HomeKit pairing code from the Aqara device or its manual. If scanning fails, you can try manually entering the pairing code.

  3. Restart Devices: It might sound simple, but try restarting your iOS device and the Aqara Hub. This can sometimes clear up any lingering connection issues.

  4. Apple HomeHub Status: Ensure that your Apple HomeHub (like HomePod, Apple TV, or iPad) is functioning correctly and connected to the HomeKit network, as this is essential for adding new devices.

  5. Aqara Home App: If adding the device via the Apple Home app continues to fail, try pairing it directly in the Aqara Home app to ensure it works properly within that app first.

  6. Firmware Updates: Make sure your Aqara device and the associated apps are updated to the latest versions. Check for any firmware updates available for the Aqara Hub in the Aqara Home app.

If these steps don’t solve the issue, you might want to try contacting Aqara Support for further assistance. They can provide more personalized help and check for any specific issues with your device or firmware.
