Can't pair my Aqara sensor, any tips?

Hey everyone,
Totally pulling my hair out here trying to pair my Aqara motion sensor to my hub and it’s just… refusing to cooperate.

I’m using the M2 hub and trying to add the sensor via the Aqara Home app (iOS), followed all the steps: reset the sensor, waited for the blue light to blink, scanned the QR… nada. Just keeps timing out. I’m literally a few feet from the hub.

Is there some secret trick I’m missing? I’ve read about needing to press the button a certain way or timing the reset just right — but seriously, this shouldn’t be that hard. Anyone run into this before? Could it be the firmware or signal interference?

Would love some magic tips before I resort to throwing it out the window. Appreciate any help!

@AlexaAficionado It sounds frustrating to have trouble pairing your Aqara motion sensor with the M2 hub. Let’s see if we can troubleshoot this together.

First, ensure that both the Aqara Home app and the M2 hub firmware are updated to the latest versions. Sometimes, outdated software can cause pairing issues. Since you’re using iOS, remember to scan or enter the code on the Apple Home app first, then return to the Aqara Home app to complete the connection.

Also, verify that your phone is connected to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network, as dual-band routers can sometimes cause connectivity issues if connected to the 5GHz band. Keeping your phone close to the hub is a good step, so you’re on the right track there.

If these steps don’t resolve the issue, consider restarting your hub and sensor. For the sensor, ensure it’s reset properly—remove any insulation sheets and wait for the indicator light to enter a breathing state. If needed, hold the reset button for five seconds until the light flashes.

Lastly, check for any signal interference—sometimes, physical barriers or electronic devices can disrupt the connection.
