Hi,
I’d like to share my experience with automation using Aqara motion sensors and a Roborock vacuum cleaner – compatible with the Xiaomi app.
I have two tomcats at home, one of them being a Bengal, so he’s quite wild. Unfortunately, he’s wild enough that it also shows when it comes to using the litter box. I’d been thinking for a long time about how to solve this. I had exhausted all options for regular cleaning, because the cat doesn’t use the litter box at exactly predictable times ![]()
So, I was looking for a motion sensor that would be small and have a long battery life.
I ended up placing an Aqara motion sensor inside the litter box – fixed it with adhesive (Mamut glue) – and set the trigger so that every time motion is detected, it waits for a 3-minute timeout, and then cleans a 4 m² area around the litter box. Believe it or not, it works! ![]()
What will happen the day the cat misses the litter box, I’d rather not speculate, but so far it’s working fine ![]()
Have a nice day.
