CCU3 Configuration Tips and Tricks

Hello everyone, I’ve been diving into the world of CCU3 and wanted to share some of my experiences and tips for configuring it, especially if you’re using it in a guest network setup like I am.

My Setup: I have a CCU3 running on a Fritzbox guest network, controlled by a Raspberry Pi 400 with Ubuntu and Firefox as the browser. The firmware is up to date, and I’ve been experimenting with some basic automations.

Current Project: I’m trying to set up a simple alert system using Jabber whenever a window sensor detects an open window (no reflection). I’ve managed to get the sensor working, but the alert part is proving a bit tricky. I’ve done some research, but finding tutorials on how to define and trigger alerts specifically is a bit of a challenge. If anyone has any pointers or knows of a good resource, I’d be grateful!

Why I Love CCU3: Despite the occasional hiccup, CCU3 is incredibly powerful. The ability to integrate various sensors and automate actions around the house is amazing. For instance, I’ve set up my lights to dim when the TV turns on, creating a perfect movie-watching atmosphere.

Tips for Beginners: If you’re just starting out, don’t get overwhelmed by the sheer number of settings and possibilities. Take it one step at a time. I found that experimenting with simple automations first really helped me understand how everything works together.

Looking Forward: I’m excited to explore more advanced features, like integrating more sensors and maybe even setting up some energy monitoring. If anyone has experience with that, I’d love to hear about your setups!

Happy automating! :rocket:
