Merry Christmas everyone! I wanted to share my recent success in setting up a rule for my outdoor Christmas lights using Hubitat. It’s my first attempt at creating a rule, and I’m thrilled it finally worked out!
Initially, I wanted the lights to turn on 45 minutes before sunset and off at 11:30 PM. I managed to get them to turn on, but they wouldn’t shut off automatically. After some research and tweaking, I figured out the issue was with the time settings and the rule logic. I adjusted the rule to ensure the off time was correctly set and tested it multiple times.
Now, my lights beautifully illuminate our yard during the holidays, and I don’t have to worry about manually turning them off. It’s such a relief and adds so much joy to our festive season!
For anyone else setting up similar rules, I’d recommend double-checking the time settings and ensuring the rule conditions are clear. Also, don’t hesitate to reach out to the community for help—it’s amazing how supportive everyone is!
Happy holidays and happy automating! ![]()
