Compatibility list for Matter camera bridging on Hub M3 Compatibility list for Matter camera bridging on Hub M3

Hello Aqara Support Team,

I am contacting you regarding the new Matter camera bridging functionality announced for the Aqara Hub M3, which is intended to bring Matter camera support to older Aqara cameras and video doorbells.

I own an Aqara Smart Video Doorbell G4 and would like to know whether this model will be supported by this feature.

I found a statement from Aqara’s product manager on the official Aqara forum explaining that older cameras would gradually receive Matter support through the Hub M3 or another compatible Aqara Matter hub. However, I have not been able to find the official list of compatible models.

Could you please clarify the following points?

  • Is the Smart Video Doorbell G4 included in the planned list of supported devices?
  • Has the official compatibility list been published? If so, could you please share the link?
  • Is the Matter bridging feature for the G4 currently under development, in beta testing, or awaiting a firmware update?
  • Will the bridged G4 expose its video stream and doorbell functionality to third-party Matter ecosystems?

I am particularly interested in integrating the G4 into Home Assistant through Matter.

Thank you for your help. I look forward to your clarification.

Best regards

@ludovic_boue You seem to be experiencing an issue with Matter camera bridging compatibility for the Smart Video Doorbell G4 via Hub M3. Based on the available reference information, I can share what we know so far.

Regarding the G4’s Matter support status: the Smart Video Doorbell G4 does not currently support Matter. The G4 connects directly via Wi-Fi to the Aqara Home app without requiring a hub, and its third-party integrations work through ecosystem-specific skills (HomeKit, Google Home, Amazon Alexa) rather than Matter bridging.

For the Hub M3’s Matter bridging capabilities: the M3 supports Matter Controller and Matter Bridge functionality for Zigbee and IR devices, and can expose child devices to Matter-compatible ecosystems including Home Assistant. However, the reference materials don’t specify camera bridging as a supported category for this feature.

The Camera Hub G350 is noted as supporting Matter Controller & Zigbee Hub functions with bridging capabilities, but this appears distinct from the Matter camera bridging functionality you’re asking about.

Since the specific compatibility list for Matter camera bridging and the G4’s inclusion in future plans aren’t covered in the available reference materials, I’d recommend reaching out directly for the most accurate and up-to-date information.

@ludovic_boue Hi @ludovic_boue,

Thanks for sharing that screenshot! It’s great to see the community actively discussing these updates.

Regarding your question about the Smart Video Doorbell G4 and Matter support, I have to share some specific information based on our current product data: the Smart Video Doorbell G4 does not support Matter.

While the Aqara Hub M3 does act as a Matter bridge for Zigbee and IR devices, allowing them to connect to ecosystems like Apple Home, Google Home, and Amazon Alexa, this specific bridging capability does not extend to the G4 doorbell for Matter integration.

However, you can still integrate the G4 with third-party ecosystems like Home Assistant, Google Home, or Alexa using Ecosystem-Specific Skills (Cloud Integrations). This allows you to stream video and receive alerts in those platforms, even though it’s not via the Matter protocol.

Since compatibility lists and future firmware plans for specific hardware features can change and are often detailed in official announcements or require checking with the product team for the most accurate roadmap, I recommend contacting the Aqara Home App Customer Service Team for any specific inquiries about future device support or detailed compatibility charts.
