Configuring Sensor Types for Optimal Home Security

Recently, I’ve been diving into optimizing my home security setup, and I’ve encountered some interesting challenges with sensor types in Alarm.com. Let me share my experiences and insights, and perhaps we can collectively find some solutions or tips!

I noticed that the sensor types listed in Alarm.com didn’t always match the actual hardware I had installed. For instance, my front garage door was categorized as a ‘twice extended delay door,’ but in reality, it’s set to delay #2 on the panel. Similarly, my laundry-to-garage door was labeled as a ‘motion’ sensor, while it’s actually a type 04 interior follower. This discrepancy made it a bit confusing to manage my security system effectively.

I understand that Alarm.com might be mixing the sensor types with their functional characteristics, but it would be incredibly helpful if there were clearer distinctions or perhaps a way to customize these labels. This way, users like me could have a more accurate representation of our setups.

Has anyone else experienced similar issues? How have you managed to work around them? I’d love to hear about your strategies or any tips you might have for ensuring that the sensor types align more closely with the actual hardware. Maybe there’s a feature request we could submit to Alarm.com to improve this aspect of their system!

Let’s keep the conversation going and help each other troubleshoot and optimize our home security setups. Your experiences and solutions could really make a difference for someone else facing the same challenges! :rocket:
