Connecting Ledvance Lights to Homey: A Successful Workaround

Hey everyone, I’ve been on a bit of a journey trying to connect my Ledvance Wifi lights to my Homey setup. I thought I’d share my experience in case anyone else is struggling with the same issue.

First off, I tried the obvious approach—using the Ledvance Smart+ Wifi app as instructed. It worked fine on its own, but integrating it with Homey was another story. After some research and trial and error, I stumbled upon a workaround that finally got everything connected. Here’s how I did it:

  1. Install the Amazon Alexa App: Even if you don’t own any Amazon devices, download and set up the Alexa app on your phone. Create an account if you don’t already have one.
  2. Add a Device in Alexa: In the Alexa app, add a new device and select ‘Smart Light’ or ‘Smart Plug’ depending on what you’re connecting. Link it to your Ledvance/Smart Life account from the initial setup.
  3. Install the Alexa Integration on Homey: Use the Amazon Alexa integration on Homey. Configure it with your Alexa account details.
  4. Add the Device to Homey: Go to your Homey devices and add a new device under the Amazon Alexa section. Select the appropriate type (Smart Light or Smart Plug).

The best part? It actually works! I can now control the brightness and color of my Ledvance lights seamlessly through Homey. There’s a slight delay—about 1-3 seconds—since the commands have to go through both the Amazon and Ledvance clouds, but it’s manageable.

I’d love to hear if anyone else has tried this method or if there are other creative ways to integrate Ledvance lights with Homey. Let’s keep the thread going with more tips and tricks! :rocket:
