I started off like many others, excited to add some smart lighting to my home. Ledvance WiFi lights caught my eye because of their sleek design and promising features. However, connecting them to my Homey wasn’t as straightforward as I hoped. The official app worked fine, but integrating them into my existing smart ecosystem was a hurdle.
After some research and trial and error, I stumbled upon a fantastic workaround that leverages Amazon Alexa. Here’s how it went down:

Initial Setup with the Ledvance App: I began by setting up the lights using the Smart+ WiFi app as instructed. It was smooth sailing until I tried connecting them to Homey.

The Amazon Alexa Bridge: The key to my success was installing the Amazon Alexa app on my phone and creating an account. I then linked my Ledvance lights to this account. Surprisingly, this bridge worked like a charm!

Installing the Alexa Integration on Homey: The final piece of the puzzle was installing the Alexa integration app on my Homey device. This allowed me to control my Ledvance lights directly from Homey, complete with brightness and color adjustments.
While there’s a slight delay due to the lights needing to communicate through both the Amazon and Ledvance clouds, it’s a small price to pay for seamless integration.
