I’m trying to set up my Zigbee network using multiple routers to improve coverage, but I’m having trouble getting my sensors to connect through the routers instead of the coordinator. Here’s what I’ve done so far and where I’m stuck:
Setup Details:
- Coordinator: Sonoff ZBDongle-E
- Routers: 2 additional Sonoff ZBDongle-E flashed with router firmware
- Sensors: 6 Sonoff temperature and humidity sensors
Problem:
All sensors are still connected directly to the coordinator, even when a router is closer. I expected the sensors to automatically switch to the nearest router for better signal strength, but that’s not happening.
**What I’ve Tried:**1. Added Routers to ZHA: I followed the instructions to add the routers to my ZHA network. They show up in the device list, but I’m not sure if they’re being recognized as routers.
2. Checked Bindable Devices: In the ZHA settings, I looked for an option to bind devices to specific routers. The dropdown only lists the coordinator, not the routers. I’m not sure how to make the routers appear here.
3. Waited for Network Update: I let the network run for several hours, hoping the sensors would rebind to the routers on their own, but nothing changed.
Questions:- Why aren’t the routers showing up in the bindable devices list?
- Is there a specific configuration step I missed to enable routing?
- How can I manually assign sensors to connect through a router instead of the coordinator?

Any advice or step-by-step guidance would be greatly appreciated! I’m really looking forward to getting this working smoothly.
