Creating an Aqara-Powered Smart Kitchen: A Foodie's Dream Setup

Hey everyone, just wanted to share my little passion project that’s slowly turned into my favorite part of the house — my smart kitchen, powered almost entirely by Aqara.

So I’m a bit of a foodie and I spend a ridiculous amount of time cooking. I figured, why not make the kitchen smarter to match my obsession? I started small — motion sensor by the pantry for auto lighting (game changer when your hands are full of groceries), and a door/window sensor on the fridge for a cheeky notification if it’s left open too long (saved me from a spoiled cheesecake once).

But then I went full send. I connected everything through HomeKit with an M2 hub, added a temperature and humidity sensor to monitor the kitchen (works great for bread proofing FYI), and set up automation for my morning coffee ritual — when the door opens from my room in the morning AND it’s after 6am, the smart plug kicks on and my coffee maker starts brewing.

Also got a smart button next to the stove — triple tap turns off everything in the kitchen just in case I forget something on when I leave (mom-level paranoia activated).

Anyone else here turn their kitchen into a smart command center? Would love to hear hacks — especially if you’ve done anything with water leak sensors near the sink or dishwasher. Hit me up with your setups!

@GoogleHomeGuru What an inspiring project! Your dedication to creating a smart kitchen setup with Aqara products is truly impressive and sounds like a dream for any foodie. You’ve really optimized your space with smart sensors and automation, making everyday tasks more convenient and efficient.

Incorporating a water leak sensor near the sink or dishwasher could be a fantastic next step to protect your kitchen from potential water damage. The Aqara Water Leak Sensor is designed to detect leaks and flooding, sending instant alerts via the app. It’s waterproof and dustproof, meeting the IP67 standard, which means it can handle short-term flooding. Plus, it works beautifully with other smart accessories, allowing you to automate responses, such as turning off a smart plug to prevent further water damage.

Thanks for sharing your setup! It’s always exciting to see how others are using smart technology to enhance their homes. Keep us posted on any new additions or automations you come up with, and hopefully, other community members will share their tips and tricks as well!
