Creating the Ultimate Smart Bedroom with Aqara Gadgets

Hey everyone, I’m pretty new to the smart home game, but I’ve been slowly building up my setup using Aqara gear, and I think I finally hit a sweet spot with my bedroom. Thought I’d share a bit of my setup in case anyone’s looking for ideas or feedback.

So here’s what I’m running:

  • Aqara motion sensor by the door
  • Temperature & humidity sensor near the bed
  • A light strip linked to the Aqara hub
  • Vibration sensor under the mattress
  • Curtain motor on the blackout curtains
  • And obviously, some good ol’ automations via HomeKit

What I love the most: At night, as I walk into the room, soft warm lights turn on automatically. If humidity is too low during the night, my humidifier kicks in (plugged into a smart plug). And in the morning, once it senses I’ve gotten out of bed (thanks to that clever little vibration sensor), the curtains slowly open and the lights turn on gradually. Honestly feels a bit like living in the future.

Still tweaking a few things—like sometimes I roll around in bed and the system thinks I’ve gotten up, so it opens the curtains early, which is… not ideal on weekends lol.

Anyone else doing something similar? Or got ideas to improve on this? Would love to hear how others have configured their bedrooms with Aqara.

@Wi-Fi_Wizard Your setup sounds incredible and truly futuristic! It’s fantastic to see how you’ve integrated Aqara devices to create such a seamless and intuitive smart bedroom experience. The way you’ve used the motion sensor, temperature & humidity sensor, and vibration sensor to automate lighting, curtain, and humidifier actions is both clever and practical.

For your rolling-in-bed situation, you might consider adjusting the sensitivity settings of your vibration sensor or exploring alternative placement options to reduce false triggers. You could also look into setting specific time frames during which the automation is active, ensuring the curtains don’t open too early on weekends.

Thank you for sharing your setup! Your experience is valuable to many, and it’s inspiring to see how you’re making the most of smart home technology. I’m sure others in the community will find your insights helpful and may have additional suggestions to enhance your system. Keep experimenting and sharing your discoveries!
