So I finally bit the bullet and went full Aqara in my home—lights, sensors, switches, the hub, the whole deal. I’m not gonna lie, it was a bit of a learning curve at first (never thought I’d be debugging automations at 1AM), but now that it’s all set up, it feels like magic.
Started small with a motion sensor in the hallway and a smart plug for the kettle (because who doesn’t want tea ready the moment they wake up?). Then it spiraled into door sensors, temp/humidity monitors for every room, and automations that greet me when I walk in the door. My bathroom mirror lights up when I enter. My hallway lights follow me at night like I’m in a sci-fi movie. It’s wild.
I’ve got some cool little tricks going—for example, when I leave the house and all doors are shut for more than 2 minutes, it auto-switches off all non-essential devices. No more “did I leave the iron on” anxiety.
