Recently, I encountered a challenge with installing contact sensors on my windows. The issue was the narrow gap between the window frame and the glass, making it difficult to mount the sensors effectively to detect both top and bottom openings. After some research, I found a creative solution that worked perfectly!
I purchased these small magnets from Amazon: 1/8 in x 1/16 in (50) 10003. They were surprisingly effective. I mounted them on both the window frame and the glass using double-sided tape. This setup allows the sensors to detect any opening from either the top or bottom of the window, which was my primary concern.
Currently, the magnets are secured with temporary adhesive, but I plan to improve their appearance by coating them with white Plasti Dip. This will give them a cleaner finish and a more secure stick surface.
This solution has been working great, and I’m happy to share it with anyone facing a similar installation challenge. It’s a simple yet effective hack that ensures reliable sensor detection without the need for complicated adjustments.
