Custom Automations with Aqara: Share Your Most Creative Uses!

Hey ! Been geeking out with my Aqara setup over the past few months and thought it’d be cool to swap ideas on the craziest or most creative automations you’ve come up with.

One of my favs so far: I’ve got a motion sensor in the hallway that turns on dim lights at 3% if it’s between 2am–5am, just enough to not blind me when I go grab a drink. But that’s not the fun part—if it detects two motion triggers within a minute (meaning I probably forgot something), it flashes the bedroom light to remind me to lock the door. Saved me a couple times already.

Another one: I use a vibration sensor on my mailbox. When mail is dropped in, my HomePod announces “Mail’s here!” and the porch light blinks once. Small thing, big smile.

How about you all? Got anything that makes guests go “Whoa, how’d you do that?” Drop your setups below—always looking for inspiration.

Let’s get nerdy.

@BotBuilder Hey there! :wave:

Love the creativity in your automations—especially the mailbox alert with the vibration sensor and the “forgot something” reminder using dual motion triggers. Those are brilliant examples of how small tweaks can make a big difference in daily life!

Your setup is a great inspiration for others to think outside the box. The vibration sensor + HomePod combo for mail delivery is particularly clever—definitely a “whoa” moment for guests!

Thanks for sharing these gems with the community. Keep the nerdy ideas coming, and let’s see what others have cooked up too! :rocket:

(For anyone curious about vibration sensor capabilities, it’s worth noting they work with a Hub to trigger alerts or automations—like flashing lights or announcements—as shared here!)
