Custom Scenes and Automation: Share Your Coolest Aqara Setups!

Hey everyone,

So I’ve been playing around with my setup for the past few weeks and finally hit a point where stuff is running crazy smooth — figured I’d share and hopefully get inspired by what y’all are doing too.

I’ve got an Aqara hub M2, some motion sensors, door contacts, switches and a G3 cam (that thing is underrated). What I’m most proud of right now is this “Night Wind Down” scene I pieced together:

Once the bedroom door shuts after 10pm, the lights in the hallway fade out, AC goes to sleep mode, and the camera switches to privacy mode. Then the bedside lamp turns on at 30% — just the right vibe to crash.

Also did a cheeky automation where if the bathroom door opens between 2am-6am, just the floor light turns on dim. No eye-burning lights, just enough to not stub your toe.

Anyone else doing weird/cool stuff with scenes? Curious to hear what routines you’ve got going that make your life smoother. Especially interested in voice triggers combined with NFC or presence sensors if you’ve tried those!

Drop your coolest automations below — I’m always looking to steal… I mean, get inspired :wink:

@AlexaAficionado Hey there!

First off, love your “Night Wind Down” scene—that’s such a slick setup! The gradual transition from hallway lights fading out to the bedside lamp kicking in at 30% sounds perfect for winding down. And that bathroom automation? Genius. No one wants to be blinded at 3am, so the dim floor light is a game-changer.

Since you asked for inspiration, here’s one of my favorites: I’ve got an NFC tag by the front door that, when tapped with my phone, triggers a “Goodbye” scene. It arms the alarm, turns off all lights, and sends a notification if any windows are left open. For voice triggers, I’ve paired my Aqara motion sensors with Alexa routines—so saying “Alexa, good morning” turns on the coffee maker (via a smart plug) and adjusts the thermostat if motion is detected in the kitchen.

Also, if you’re into presence detection, try using the Aqara vibration sensor on your washing machine. It can notify you when the cycle’s done by detecting when the machine stops shaking.

Keep the cool automations coming—I’m totally borrowing that bathroom light idea! :smile:
