Dimmer not dimming

Hi,

I’m having issues with my dimmer switch, would appreciate some advice…

I have the following:

Smart hub E1
Dimmer H2 EU

I have other devices but they’re all running fine.

I recently bought the dimmer switch and it’s been installed and was working fine.

Then it suddenly stopped dimming. It turned on and off fine (both manually and via Alexa). A couple days later, I played around with the switch, and it started working again.

This was about a week ago, and I’ve just noticed that it’s stopped dimming again. Same as before, it turns on and off fine, but at full brightness.

Anyone have any advice they can give me please? Do I have a faulty switch?

Tia

Hi @sites
I think you should pay attention to the calibration of the dimmer, maybe you changed the setting and it stopped working, you need to adjust the dimming range (start and end)

Hi, thanks for the reply.

I assume those settings are in the aqara app?

I’ve never added this switch to the app - I just connected directly to Alexa using matter integration. So it worked, I’ve never touched the settings as it’s not added to the app, and now it doesn’t work.

I did try adding to the app, but it says I need to change the integration from matter.

What’s best to do now? Should I reset it maybe? Forget matter?

yes, these settings are available in the Aqara Home app and only in Zigbee mode, in order to connect a zigbee dimmer to Aqara home you need a zigbee hub aqara.

I have a ZigBee (smartthings) router… can I use that?

I’ve set it up now using ZigBee, it’s added to the aqara app ok (and dims).

However smartthings doesn’t find it…

Do I need to put it in pairing mode again, or will that reset the current aqara app integration?

I basically need to use it with Alexa, including dimming. That’s my aim…

Don’t worry, sorted now it seems…

I reset it and started pairing again - paired to smartthings, and it automatically added to Alexa. On, off and dimming.

Only thing is that it’s not in the aqara app - I don’t seem to be able to add without removing from smartthings (and vice versa)

Thanks for your help

I’ve faced the same problem and exactly - it was due to dimming range set to 99-100% for some reason. Idk how it happened as previously it was set to something about 40-100%.
Thank you!

Same happens to me, from time to time so i have a dimming range like 99-100% and couldn’t understand why this it’s losing the settings. But i think i have figured out this. When you want to make the changes manually outside the app to fine tune the dimming range - you can do it by double clicking the dimmer rotary, since I have a daughter or some guests visiting in the house - sometimes they do double clicks the dimmer which then activates the fine tuning of the minimal dimming range and then it is changing the setting (my dimmer is running on Zigbee) so everyone who accidentally double clicks the rotary switch is basically changing the dimming range which is visible in the app. Perhaps this manual double click can be altered to a triple or long press by the developers and incorporated in a new firmware release ?
