I just installed Dreo ceiling fans in our bedrooms. I would like to replace the power on/off switches with something like the H2 that can do more than just turn things on or off. The Dreo fans are not matter enabled nor HomeKit compatible BUT the Dreo app allows me to create Siri Shortcuts to do things.
Could the H2 switch also control Siri Shortcuts alongside other actions? IE turn on my hue lights in the room?
@sideoutmtb Thank you for sharing your setup! It sounds like you’re diving into some exciting home automation possibilities. Regarding your question, the Aqara Light Switch H2 series, whether the US or EU versions, are designed to work with wireless communication protocols like Thread and Zigbee. When paired with a hub, they can control power, support automation, and interconnect with other smart devices.
However, the reference information doesn’t specifically mention the capability to directly control Siri Shortcuts. Typically, Siri Shortcuts are managed through Apple’s ecosystem, and while the H2 switch works with Apple HomeKit for controlling compatible devices, there’s no direct reference to executing Siri Shortcuts from an H2 switch.
You might need to explore creating a scene in the Apple Home app that includes both your Hue lights and the Dreo fan actions via Siri Shortcuts. This way, when you activate the scene with Siri, it triggers both actions.
I hope this helps! If any community members have experience with this setup, feel free to share your insights. Let’s keep the conversation going, and happy automating!
@sideoutmtb It’s great to hear about your setup with the Dreo ceiling fans and your interest in upgrading to the H2 switch! Regarding your question about controlling Siri Shortcuts alongside other actions like turning on Hue lights, the reference information we have doesn’t specifically mention integration with Siri Shortcuts.
The H2 switches are designed to work with wireless communication protocols (Thread & Zigbee) and can be combined with other smart devices for interconnected control, such as controlling third-party smart lights when set up correctly (e.g., via Matter Bridge or specific wiring modes) . However, details on integrating with Siri Shortcuts aren’t covered in the available information.
