Dimmer Switch H2 in Apple Home

I’ve added the Dimmer Switch H2 EU to Aqara Home in Zigbee Mode connected to an m200 hub. It’s exposed for some reason in Apple Home as 2 devices (both as lights). Both entries display in the exact same way (as a slider control) with no on/off control.
One entry is named as the custom name I gave it in Aqara Home, the other is just called ‘switch’

When looking at the Accessory settings - the dimmer switch entry, shows it as the dimmer switch H2.

The ‘switch’ entry shows it as a different model but with same serial number

Both say there is an ‘unconfigured button’

The switch is controlling a single dumb light and the physical buttons work correctly (on/off, rotary dimming)

In Aqara Home the device is reported as this…

I don’t understand what the Unconfigured Button is or why there are 2 entries ? for the same thing - Can this be combined into a single control? Very confusing

Same I have th smart dimmer switch h2 US version and in Alexa home it was showing two entities. A “switch” and a “dimmer switch” but both were tied together. I wasn’t able to get any smart automation working on the “dimmer switch” in the Alexa app.

Looks like you have integrated your hub using Matter integration and HomeKit integration.

It’s actually two different things and Apple Home sees it as two different hubs. Matter is different protocol than HomeKit (and Matter is more generic) so Apple Home doesn’t know the devices are doubled, it thinks it’s just a different device paired with different hub.

Side effect: the devices are doubled. Remove one of the hubs (either Matter or the HomeKit) and it will remove the duplicates.

For example - I have paired my M3 hub as Matter hub in Apple Home. If I clicked “connect” next to the Apple Home, it would pair my M3 hub again and it would duplicate the devices.

Thanks for this. I can’t remember how I paired it originally. Which method would you suggest is preferable?

I use Apple Home as my main ecosystem but pretty much all Aqara underneath via Aqara Home.

This is how the hub is currently configured…

I think you can delete the duplicate in Apple Home > three dots > Home Settings > Hubs and Bridges.

I can’t actually recommend you the best way to pair a hub with Apple Home - I use Matter because I can do signal sync for my HomeKit automations, but I noticed that connecting it as Apple Home integration gives you more flexibility in terms of device settings in Apple Home.

Thanks for this.
I basically removed the m200 hub from apple home (including the duplicate, which I still don’t understand why it was duplicated). I also removed any integration or binding for the hub in Aqara Home.

So Aqara home looks like this…

(with the single child device being the dimmer H2 EU)

Aqara home displays this H2 EU device as 2 things - the Light bulb and a Wireless switch - inspecting either of them shows me the exact same page …

So I am assuming this is the reason I am seeing 2 devices in apple home (even though I set up the H2 EU step by step via Aqara instructions)

I added the M200 Hub back into my Home using the HomeKit option provided by Aqara home - and I now have a single M200 hub in Apple Home as I would expect.

I still have the 2 devices in Apple Home - one showing as a bulb control and the other a switch.

the switch has no configurable options but the bulb/ dimmer has (and still tells me there is an unconfigured button but no way to configure it)

I would also point out that the dimmer switch is physically controlling the dumb bulb and not decoupled.

I guess this is just how it is & I just have to live with it but you can see how it can be a black box subject to try and work out what on earth is going on even just following the enclosed instructions.
