Disabled the camera?

Hello,

I’m very happy with my doorbell installation. However, having the camera record 24/7 doesn’t seem necessary to me. I think turning on the camera when I ask for it is more than enough. I haven’t found a setting to disable video streaming. Possible ?

You didn’t mention which doorbell model however it doesn’t matter in the end I guess. A toggle to turn off the camera would be a nice addition keeping it simple while still allowing the doorbell to ring. Actually that option would be nice on all cameras. (A simple toggle to turn off)

Yes, absolutely. I’m talking about the Sonette G410, but it could also apply to other products. So you’re confirming that it’s not possible as it stands ? That seems strange to me.

There is a power saving mode for battery powered doorbells but I don’t think that will accomplish your goal

I have Aqara G4 video doorbell, G5 Pro camera hub and G100 camera. The cameras G5 and G100 can be turned off which stops the videostream, recording locally & to the cloud as well as stops detecting events. The doorbell G4 doesn’t have such option. I am not sure whether G410 has the same or different functionality. On the other hand, the local recording on the doorbell G4 (as well as on the cameras G5 and G100) can be set to either 24/7 or on events only or disabled (24/7 possible on G4 only if powered by wire). Cloud recording is event driven only.
So once you check the doorbell (either if someone rings or just to see its camera) the videostream will start. As far as I know, it is not possible to just transmit audio. On the other hand, automated recording can be suppressed as described above (you can still record manually anyway)
