Disabling the Light Sensor on a Wyze Outdoor Plug

Hey everyone, I wanted to share my experience with the Wyze Outdoor Plug and how I managed to disable the light sensor feature. I’ve been using this plug to control my deck lights, and while it’s a great device, I found myself struggling with its automatic light control feature. Every evening when it got dark, the plug would turn on the lights, which was not what I wanted since I prefer to control them manually via Alexa.

Initially, I tried physically blocking the sensor by positioning the plug against the wall. However, due to the layout of my deck, this wasn’t feasible. After some research, I discovered that the Wyze app allows you to disable the light sensor through its settings. Here’s how I did it:

  1. Open the Wyze App: Launch the app on your smartphone.
  2. Navigate to Devices: Go to the devices section and select the Wyze Outdoor Plug you want to configure.
  3. Access Settings: Tap on the gear icon to access the device settings.
  4. Disable Light Sensor: Look for an option labeled “Light Sensor” or similar and toggle it off.

Once I disabled the light sensor, the plug no longer turned on the lights automatically. Now, I can fully rely on my Alexa routines to control the lights, which is exactly what I wanted!

If anyone else is dealing with a similar issue, I hope this helps. It’s always great to find a solution that aligns with your smart home preferences. Let me know if you have any questions or if there’s another workaround you’ve found!

Happy automating! :rocket:
