Hey all, Drop in and share a little DIY adventure I’ve been on the past couple weeks. So I’ve been playing around with Aqara devices for a while now (call me an enthusiast), but I always felt like I wanted just a bit more control and customization. Enter: Raspberry Pi.
Long story short—I managed to hook my Aqara sensors, buttons, and even my G2H cam into a Raspberry Pi setup using Home Assistant and MQTT. Took some trial, error, and a few nights of yelling at YAML configs, but the end result? Totally worth it.
Now I’ve got custom automations triggering based on multiple sensor conditions, OTA remote access without needing a cloud dependency, and even a slick dashboard to boot. Best part? It’s fast. Like, noticeably snappy compared to my original cloud-dependent setup.
If anyone else has tried integrating Aqara gear this way, I’d love to swap notes. Also happy to help anyone who wants to dive into the Pi-Aqara rabbit hole. Trust me—it’s deep, but rewarding.
Let’s geek out.
