DIY Automation Success and Future Ideas

I recently had a DIY automation project that worked out really well, and I wanted to share my experience and ask for advice on how to make even better projects in the future. Here’s my story:

A few weeks ago, I set up a vibration sensor to control my in-wall smart switches. The idea was inspired by the Knocki device, where you can tap or hold to trigger different actions. I created a simple automation where a single vibration turns on the bathroom light, a double tap turns it off, and a long press toggles the bathroom fan. It’s been working like a charm!

What I’d like to know:

  • Has anyone else replicated something like this with HA automations?
  • How do you handle multiple vibration signals in succession? For example, could I set up a system where 4 taps turn off all lights in the house?
  • Are there any limitations or potential issues I should be aware of with this kind of setup?

It would also be amazing to see what other DIY projects people have successfully implemented. The more examples I can learn from, the better my future projects will be!

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and experiences!
