Hey everyone! I wanted to share a fun and practical DIY project I recently completed using my Wyze motion sensor and a Wyze plug. I’ve always struggled with keeping my cats away from their food and water bowls—no matter where I place them, they seem to find a way to knock everything over. ![]()

After some brainstorming, I decided to set up a motion-activated deterrent system. I mounted the Wyze motion sensor about a foot off the floor near their feeding area. Then, I connected it to a Wyze plug that controls a small desk fan. The idea is simple: when the sensor detects motion, the fan turns on, startling the cats and encouraging them to find a quieter spot to hang out. ![]()
At first, it was hilarious watching their reactions. They’d approach the bowls, trip the sensor, and then scatter as the fan kicked in. After a few rounds, they started associating the area with the fan and began avoiding it altogether. It’s been a few weeks now, and the setup has significantly reduced the mess around their feeding station. Plus, it’s given me a few good laughs along the way! ![]()
I’d love to hear if anyone else has tried something similar or has other creative ways to keep pets in check. Let’s keep the ideas flowing! ![]()
