This holiday season, I decided to take my home automation to the next level with a fun DIY project! Inspired by a t-shirt design my wife loved, I created a dual curtain setup featuring Darth Vader wearing a Santa hat, complete with the phrase ‘Your lack of cheer disturbs me’ moving from right to left. It’s been a delightful way to add some holiday cheer to our home!
The process involved setting up the curtains to automate the movement and display the message. I used my Vera (now Ezlo) system to control the curtains, ensuring they open and close smoothly. The timing and message display were programmed to trigger at specific intervals, making it interactive and engaging for anyone who walks by.
I also entered this project in the Countdown to Christmas Competition hosted by @TechMan09. It’s been a great way to share my creativity with the community and see what others have come up with. If you’re interested in checking out the competition, you can find it here.
This project has been more than just a fun decoration—it’s reminded me of the endless possibilities home automation offers. From simple light controls to creative holiday displays, the sky’s the limit! I’d love to hear how others have used their systems for unique projects this season. Happy automating and Merry Christmas! ![]()
