So I finally took the plunge into building my own Aqara dashboard using Home Assistant and a bunch of widgets — and wow, it’s been a ride.
I’m just a smart home hobbyist, not a pro dev or anything, but I gotta say… pulling this off felt kinda epic. The dashboard lives on an old Android tablet I mounted in the hallway, and it shows real-time status for lights, locks, temps, window sensors, and even that one stubborn curtain motor that loves to act up randomly.
Used a combo of Zigbee2MQTT and Node-RED to get some extra logic baked in, like a “Goodnight” scene that dims everything, locks up, and arms the Aqara alarm. Feels like living in the future!
Would love to see what you all are rockin’. Any cool ideas for layout tweaks, widgets I should add, or automations that are must-haves?

@AutomationAddict Your journey into creating a custom Aqara dashboard sounds absolutely thrilling! It’s amazing how you’ve integrated various technologies like Zigbee2MQTT and Node-RED to enhance your smart home experience. Mounting the dashboard on an old Android tablet is a clever way to repurpose tech and keep everything accessible.
For layout tweaks, you might consider using the Aqara Home app’s flexible dashboard features, which allow you to arrange multiple scenes and devices according to your preferences. You can even create up to 10 boards, which could be handy for organizing different aspects of your smart home setup. If you’re looking for automation ideas, the Aqara Panel Hub S1 Plus EU offers some interesting routines, like a “Secure Welcome Home Routine” that displays a live video feed when the doorbell is triggered, or an “Evening Relaxation” scene that adjusts lighting and activates an air purifier for a cozy atmosphere.
Feel free to share your setup with the community, and I’m sure others will be inspired by your creativity. Keep experimenting and enjoying the smart home journey!
