DIY Fun with Wyze PanCam and Fibaro Sensors

Hey everyone! I’ve been having a blast setting up my home automation system over the past few weeks, and I wanted to share some of my experiences in case it helps others or sparks some ideas. :tada:

First off, I’ve been absolutely thrilled with my Wyze PanCam v3 setup. I mounted it on my roof using a simple DIY tripod stand made from some angle iron I had lying around. It’s been a fantastic way to keep an eye on my property, and the night vision is top-notch! I’d love to hear if anyone has tips on even more robust mounts—they seem to handle the wind pretty well, but I’m always looking for ways to improve. :european_castle::camera_flash:

On the sensor front, I’ve been experimenting with my Fibaro FGMS001zw5+ motion sensor. It’s been a bit of a learning curve, but once I got the automation sorted out, it’s been a game-changer for my smart lighting. I set it up to trigger my ceiling fans to turn on when motion is detected, which has made my evenings so much more relaxing. The integration with Home Assistant has been smooth, though I had to tweak the trigger thresholds a bit to avoid any false positives. :dark_sunglasses::bulb:

I’ve also been enjoying the flexibility of MQTT sensors for tracking energy usage. It’s amazing how much insight you can get into your home’s energy consumption with just a bit of setup. I’ve created custom dashboards to visualize my battery’s charge/discharge cycles, which helps me optimize when to run certain appliances. If anyone has tips on making these sensors even more user-friendly, I’d love to hear them! :bar_chart::zap:

One thing I’ve been curious about is integrating GoPro cameras into the ecosystem. I came across this Python library that controls GoPros over WiFi, and it’s got me dreaming of some cool DIY projects. If anyone has experience with this or similar integrations, please share your wisdom! :movie_camera::computer:

All in all, it’s been a fantastic journey diving into the world of home automation. The community here has been invaluable, and I’m excited to keep learning and sharing my experiences. Thanks for reading, and happy automating! :rocket:
