Okay so, this might help someone in the same boat I was last week. My Aqara Motion Sensor just… stopped responding after a HomeKit update. Totally ghosted. I’m talking no motion detection, no light level info — nothing.
At first I was convinced it was dead. Replaced the battery (twice), rebooted the hub, removed + re-added the sensor in HomeKit, the whole 9 yards. Nada. Then I found my holy grail: a weird little trick that actually brought it back to life.
Basically, I reset the sensor by holding the button for 10 seconds, waited for it to flash quickly, and instead of pairing it directly with HomeKit like before, I re-paired through the Aqara app first, then let it sync into HomeKit from there. Boom — working again.
No idea why this workaround isn’t more talked about, but if anyone out there bricked their motion sensor recently, try this before ditching it or buying a new one.
Curious if others hit the same snag after the last HomeKit update? Or is this just my bad luck?
