Hey everyone! I just wanted to share a fun project my family and I worked on this year for Halloween. We’re huge fans of both Disney and Govee, so we decided to combine the two and create our very own Giant Pumpkin King inspired by the Haunted Mansion! 
The idea came to us when we noticed our Halloween decorations were getting repetitive. This year, we wanted something more immersive and magical. After some brainstorming, we settled on recreating the iconic Pumpkin King from The Nightmare Before Christmas. It was a challenging but rewarding project, and I’d love to walk you through how we did it!
Step 1: Planning & Materials
We started by sketching out the design and gathering materials. The base structure was built using foam board and cardboard, which we shaped into a large pumpkin form. For the face, we used a combination of carved wood and LED lights to create that eerie, glowing effect.
Step 2: Lighting with Govee
This is where Govee really shone! We used a variety of Govee LED strips and bulbs to light up the Pumpkin King’s face and body. The color-changing feature allowed us to switch between warm oranges and spooky greens, perfectly matching the Halloween theme. We even set up a timer so the lights change automatically throughout the night!
Step 3: Adding the Finishing Touches
To give our Pumpkin King that extra touch of magic, we added a few interactive elements. Using Govee’s app, we programmed the lights to react to sound and motion. Now, every time someone walks by, the Pumpkin King’s eyes light up and his face glows brighter—seriously, it’s a hit with the neighborhood kids!
