DIY Home Control Panel: My Smart Home Hub

Hello everyone! I’ve been diving deep into the world of smart home automation lately, and I wanted to share my latest project with you all. I’ve always been fascinated by the idea of having a central control panel for all my smart devices, and after some research and experimentation, I finally managed to create my own DIY home control panel. It’s been a fantastic journey, and I’d love to walk you through it!

My inspiration for this project came from a post I saw on the forum about a recessed wall-mounted tablet setup. I thought it would be perfect for my needs, so I decided to give it a try. The goal was to have a sleek, integrated panel that could display key information and control all my smart devices from one place.

I started by gathering the necessary components. I opted for a tablet as the main display, and I used Tasker, SharpTools, and KWGT to display the essential information on the home screen. For the layout, I went with Total Launcher paired with a flattened theme to keep everything organized and easy to navigate. I also integrated TinyCam Pro for live camera feeds, a news widget for updates, Google Keep for notes, and Fotoo for a dynamic screensaver. To power everything, I repurposed an old 24V power supply from my wired home alarm system—perfect for the job!

The construction phase was a mix of excitement and learning. I designed a custom frame and mount to fit everything neatly into my wall. It was a bit challenging to get everything aligned perfectly, but with some trial and error, it all came together beautifully. The result is a sleek, fully functional control panel that’s both aesthetic and practical.

One of the highlights of this project is how everything works seamlessly together. I can now control my lights, check the weather, monitor my security cameras, and even adjust my thermostat—all from this one panel. It’s incredibly satisfying to see all these smart devices working in harmony, and it’s made managing my smart home so much easier.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on this project! Have you ever considered creating your own DIY control panel? What tools or apps do you use for your smart home setup? I’d be happy to share more details or tips if anyone is interested in giving it a try themselves. Happy tinkering everyone! :rocket:
