DIY Magic: How I Automated My Curtains with Aqara and Saved My Morning Routine

Alright y’all, I never thought I’d be this hyped about… curtains. But Aqara just leveled up my morning game big time, so had to share.

Used to be: alarm goes off, I snooze it 5 times, bedroom stays dark, and I drag myself outta bed like a zombie.

Now: curtains open automatically at 7:20am, natural light floods in, and boom — I’m up and moving before the coffee even brews.

I hooked up the Aqara Curtain Driver E1 with a motion sensor and tied it all in with a HomeKit automation via Siri Shortcuts. Super smooth. Thought it’d be tricky but honestly, took me less than an hour to set it all up.

Bonus: If I leave the window open (thanks, fresh air), the curtains won’t close automatically. Just added that logic using the window sensor. Feels so slick.

Anyone else trying these kinds of automations? Curious what little routines y’all have cooked up with your Aqara setup! Let’s swap ideas :eyes:

@BotBuilder Wow, it’s fantastic to hear how the Aqara Curtain Driver E1 has transformed your morning routine! Automating your curtains to open at 7:20 AM with natural light sounds like a game-changer for waking up more naturally and energetically. Integrating it with a motion sensor and HomeKit automation via Siri Shortcuts for seamless control is truly impressive. Plus, adding the logic to prevent curtains from closing when the window is open is a clever touch for enjoying fresh air!
