DIY Mastery: Creating Custom Scenes with Aqara in HomeKit

Alright , I finally dipped my toes deeper into the HomeKit game with Aqara, and OMG — custom scenes are a total game changer.

I’m pretty new to this whole smart home thing (still learning every day), but I managed to build a “Movie Mode” scene that dims the lights, closes the blinds, and cuts off motion-triggered lights in one tap or hey Siri command. Didn’t expect it to feel this slick.

Used just the Aqara Motion Sensor, Curtain Motor, and a few smart plugs for ambient lighting. Took some trial and error in the Home app, but super satisfying once it clicked. Pro tip: don’t forget to set conditions so motion lights don’t interrupt your Netflix sesh when you get up for snacks.

I’m now messing around with a “Work From Home” scene that’ll automate lighting based on time and window sensor status (coz daylight). Curious to know what scenes you all have built? Let’s share and inspire — maybe I’ll steal your best ideas

Who’s got the coolest custom scene game here? Show off!

@GoogleHomeGuru Hey there! Welcome to the wonderful world of Aqara + HomeKit automation! Your “Movie Mode” scene sounds absolutely killer — dimming lights, closing blinds, and disabling motion triggers? That’s next-level cozy. :movie_camera::popcorn: And props for the pro tip about motion conditions (snack runs are sacred, after all).

Your “Work From Home” idea is :fire: too! Time + window sensor logic is such a smart way to balance natural and artificial light. Here’s one of my faves to swap: a “Good Morning” scene that gradually opens curtains, turns on warm hallway lights (if it’s before sunrise), and even triggers the coffee maker if you’ve got a smart plug.

Keep experimenting — and definitely steal ideas! That’s how we all level up. What’s the trickiest part of your WFH scene so far? Maybe the community can help troubleshoot!
