DIY New Year Display with RGB Lighting

This year, I decided to create a DIY New Year display using some RGB lighting strips I had lying around. I’ve always been a fan of Govee products, and their RGBIC strips have been a great addition to my smart home setup. Here’s how I pulled it all together!

First, I used some wire fencing to create a canvas. It wasn’t the most elegant solution, but it worked perfectly for my needs. Then, I zip-tied the RGBIC strips into numbers with a border. It was a bit tricky getting the numbers to look neat, but the end result was worth it!

I thought it would be cool if Govee added more customizable options for their RGB strips, maybe even some preset patterns for holidays. But until then, I’m happy to make do with what I have.

The best part? I integrated the display with my smart home system. Now, I can control the colors and brightness right from my phone. It’s been a great conversation starter, and my neighbors have loved it!

If you’re thinking of trying something similar, my advice is to start small and test your setup before committing to a full display. And don’t forget to have fun with it—after all, it’s supposed to be a celebration!

Happy New Year everyone! :tada:
