I wanted to share my recent experience with creating DIY outdoor wall lights that mimic the effect of flames. It’s been a fun project, especially as we’re gearing up for Halloween this year with our color scheme of purple and green. The goal was to make the lights look like the purple is bouncing up and down like flames, which adds a really spooky yet festive vibe to our front porch.
Initially, I tried using the fire preset on my outdoor wall lamps, but it didn’t quite give the effect I was looking for. The current DIY setup I have just fades to more purple over time, which is nice but not dynamic enough. I started experimenting with custom color settings and found that adjusting the brightness and saturation levels created a more realistic flame effect.
One thing I learned is the importance of layering colors. By combining different shades of purple and green, I was able to create a more vibrant and dynamic display. It’s also been interesting to see how the lights interact with the surrounding environment, especially during the evening when natural light starts to fade.
I’d love to hear from others who have tackled similar projects or have tips on achieving that authentic flame-like flicker. It’s been a great way to get creative with smart lighting and really customize the look of our home for the season. Happy Halloween everyone! ![]()
