DIY Smart Home Project: Custom Lighting Setup

Hi everyone, I wanted to share a fun DIY project I recently completed to enhance my home’s lighting system. After seeing some incredible setups on this forum, I decided to give it a try myself! :star2:

I’ve always been a fan of how lighting can completely transform a space, so I decided to create a custom setup using a mix of RGB LED strips and smart bulbs. The goal was to have a system that could adapt to different moods and activities throughout the day. I used a combination of Hue bulbs for their reliability and some budget-friendly LED strips for added flair. :rocket:

One challenge I faced was ensuring smooth transitions between different color modes. I stumbled upon a helpful tip on adjusting the fade settings in the Hue app, which made a world of difference! Now, the colors transition seamlessly, creating a calming ambiance in the evenings and a vibrant atmosphere during movie nights. :clapper:

Another thing I wanted to share is how I integrated my new setup with my existing smart home ecosystem. I used IFTTT to create some simple automations, like dimming the lights when it gets dark outside or switching to a preset ‘Goodnight’ mode when I go to bed. It’s amazing how these small tweaks can make such a big difference in daily life! :night_with_stars:

I’d love to hear from others who’ve undertaken similar projects—what tips or tricks have you found useful? And for anyone looking to start their own DIY journey, don’t hesitate to ask—I’m happy to share more details or help troubleshoot any issues! :bulb:

Thanks for reading, and happy smart home experimenting! :rocket:
