DIY Smart Home Projects and Tips

I’ve been diving into some exciting DIY smart home projects lately, and I wanted to share a few of my favorites with the community! :rocket:

One of my most recent projects was creating a custom mounting solution for my Homematic temperature sensor. I’ve always struggled with finding the perfect way to attach it to my radiator without drilling or using heavy-duty tools. After some research and experimentation, I came up with a simple yet effective setup using a stainless steel pipe clamp, a threaded rod, and a few nuts. It’s not the most professional-looking solution, but it does the job perfectly for monitoring my heating system. Plus, it helps me avoid unnecessary oil consumption by my boiler!

Another project I’m really proud of is my energy monitoring setup. I’ve been using Homey Energy for a while now, but I always felt like it wasn’t giving me enough actionable data. I decided to take matters into my own hands and created a custom template sensor to track the exact energy consumption of specific devices over time. This has been incredibly helpful in identifying areas where I can save money and reduce my carbon footprint. If anyone else is looking to do something similar, I’d be happy to share my setup details! :earth_africa:

On the topic of energy, I’ve also been exploring ways to integrate my smart lights more effectively. I recently added some Govee RGBIC strips and have been blown away by their brightness and color accuracy. They’re a fantastic upgrade from my older bulbs, and I love how they can completely transform the ambiance of a room with just a few taps on my phone. If you’re in the market for some new lights, I’d highly recommend checking them out! :bulb:

I’d love to hear about everyone else’s recent projects or any tips they’ve picked up along the way. Let’s keep the creativity flowing! :handshake:
