DIY Smart Lighting Setup and Energy Management Tips

Hey everyone! I wanted to share my recent DIY smart lighting setup and some energy management tips I’ve picked up along the way. It’s been a fun journey, and I hope others can find it helpful too! :rocket:

First, I’ve been experimenting with manually inputting energy readings for gas and electricity using Utility Meter. While electricity was straightforward, gas required a bit more work since I had to convert meter readings to kWh. Initially, I faced some issues where the gas reading wouldn’t update on the dashboard, but I figured out that ensuring the sensor values are correctly formatted was key. Now, both my gas and electricity readings show up perfectly, which is a huge relief! :bar_chart:

On the DIY front, I’ve been working on a smart lighting project using Govee products. I’ve always admired their sleek designs, and their energy-efficient bulbs have been a great addition to my setup. I even tried my hand at drawing a custom Govee character as part of a contest I came across earlier. It was a fun creative outlet, and I’m proud of how it turned out! :art:

For those looking to integrate multiple smart devices, I’ve found that consistency in firmware updates and proper calibration is crucial. For example, my Shelly 2.5 units work flawlessly for controlling my roller blinds, but one without power measurement had some initial calibration issues. Thankfully, a factory reset and firmware update sorted that out nicely. :hammer_and_wrench:

Energy management aside, I’ve also been exploring ways to enhance my home security. The Wyze Cam Pan has been a fantastic addition, offering affordable and reliable surveillance with its motorized panning feature. It’s been a great way to keep an eye on things without breaking the bank! :mag:

Lastly, I’d love to hear from others about their energy management strategies or DIY projects. Have you found any unique solutions or tips that have worked well for you? I’m always looking for new ideas to improve my setup! :hugs:

Cheers to all the creative and innovative minds out there making their homes smarter and more efficient! :bulb:
