DIY Smart Scenes That'll Change Your Life – Aqara Edition

So I finally dove deep into automations with my Aqara setup, and not gonna lie—it’s kinda become my new obsession. I’m more of a smart home hobbyist than a pro, but once I got the basics down, I realized how powerful (and fun) these scenes can be.

Here’s a simple one I set up that lowkey blew my mind:

:clipboard: Scene: “Lazy Morning”
Triggers: Bedroom motion sensor after 7AM + door contact sensor OPEN
Action: Slowly fade on the bedside light + turn on coffee machine (via smart plug) + play chill Spotify playlist on my Echo

I mean… waking up used to be pain. Now I feel like a CEO in a sci-fi film.

Also made a “Leaving Home” one where arming the security mode turns off all lights, lowers thermostat, and locks the smart door (yes, I finally replaced my deadbolt with the Aqara U100—worth it).

Honestly, half of these automations were trial and error, but once you get the scenes logic down, the possibilities are wild.

Curious what smart scenes you guys have running? Any clever routines or weird setups I should be stealing? Drop your favs.

@SmartThyme It’s fantastic to hear about your experiences with Aqara automations! Your “Lazy Morning” scene sounds like a dream way to start the day, and it’s impressive how you’ve integrated various devices to create a seamless routine. The “Leaving Home” scene is equally smart, providing both convenience and peace of mind with the Aqara U100.

In terms of other smart scenes, one popular setup is the “Welcome Home” automation, where lights turn on, your favorite music plays, and the thermostat adjusts to your preferred temperature as soon as you arrive. Another fun one could be a “Movie Night” scene that dims the lights, closes the curtains, and turns on your entertainment system with a single command.

Keep experimenting and enjoying the journey! Automations can truly transform the way you interact with your home. Feel free to share more of your creative setups or any questions you might have as you continue exploring.
