DIY Wyze Cam Window Mount - Easy Solution While Official Mount is Out of Stock

Hey everyone, I wanted to share a quick and easy DIY solution for mounting your Wyze Cam v3 on the window, especially since the official window mount has been out of stock for a while. I had the same issue and decided to give it a try myself, and I must say, it worked out perfectly!

Materials Needed:

  • 3M Command Black Picture Hanging Strips (I used the large ones for better grip)
  • A flat surface on your window (make sure it’s clean and dry)
  • A few minutes of your time

Steps:

  1. Prepare the Strips: Peel off the backing from the Command strips and stick them on the window where you want your camera to be. I placed them about 2-3 inches apart to create a stable base.
  2. Attach the Camera: Carefully place the Wyze Cam on the strips. The Command strips are sticky enough to hold the camera in place but also allow for easy repositioning if needed.
  3. Adjust for Best View: After placing the camera, I adjusted the strips slightly outward to ensure the camera wasn’t too close to the edges, which can cause reflections, especially with dual-pane windows.
  4. Block Sound if Needed: I also added a tiny piece of Command strip over the microphone to block any unwanted sounds, which is a nice touch if you’re placing it indoors.

Why This Works:

  • No Drilling Required: This method is completely non-invasive and won’t leave any marks on your window.
  • Adjustable: Unlike the official mount, you can easily move the camera around if you want to change the viewing angle or position.
  • Sturdy: The Command strips are strong enough to hold the camera securely, even in slightly windy conditions.

Tips:

  • Use Black Strips: I initially tried white ones, but they created too much glare, so stick with black for a sleek look.
  • Turn Off IR Emitters: This setup works best with the v3 cam’s incredible night vision, so make sure to disable the IR emitters to avoid any light pollution.

Outcome:

I’ve had my camera up for a couple of weeks now, and it’s been working great! The video quality is excellent, and I don’t have to worry about the camera falling off or moving out of place. Plus, it’s super easy to take down when I need to clean the window or open the sliding door.

If you’re waiting for the official mount or just want a quick fix, I highly recommend giving this DIY method a try. It’s affordable, easy, and effective!

Happy hacking! :rocket:
