DIY Zigbee Water Heater Switch: A Mechanical Engineer's Approach

Hi everyone, I wanted to share my recent project where I built a Zigbee switch for my water heater using a Zigbee light switch and a 30A relay. While the options in my area were limited, I decided to take matters into my own hands, combining my mechanical background with a bit of electronics tinkering.

The challenge was powering the switch from the same feed as the water heater, which wasn’t something I saw in other examples. After some research and trial and error, I managed to get it working smoothly. I’d love to hear if anyone else has tackled a similar project or has tips for improving the setup!

It’s been a rewarding experience, and I’m excited to see how this integration enhances my home’s efficiency. If anyone has questions or suggestions, feel free to reach out!
