Does anyone actually rate this kit

Had my g4 door bell 4 days it’s not rang twice missed people turning up all together and how we’ve had an iPad stollen out of the car and it’s not detected a thing other than the bloke walking his dog on the other side of the street

@mattravers_alex I’m sorry to hear about the issues you’re experiencing with your Smart Video Doorbell G4. Here are a few things you might want to check:

  1. Power Saving Mode: If this mode is enabled, the doorbell can only be activated by pressing the bell or remotely through the app. Ensure it’s switched to normal mode for active PIR detection.

  2. Detection Settings: Confirm that the lingering detection and facial recognition are turned on, and the recording switch is activated within these settings.

  3. Lingering Detection Interval: Make sure the interval isn’t set too long, which could result in missing events.

  4. Face Recognition Sensitivity: If face recognition is enabled but not detecting, try adjusting the sensitivity to a higher setting and ensure there is good lighting around the doorbell.

If these steps don’t resolve the issue, it might be beneficial to discuss further within the community or reach out to Aqara’s support for more personalized assistance. Your experience is valuable, and feedback like yours helps improve future product iterations.

@mattravers_alex I’m sorry to hear you’re having trouble with your G4 doorbell – let’s try to figure this out.

First, regarding the doorbell not ringing, the G4 requires the supplied Chime Repeater for operation because the Wi-Fi chip is integrated into the Chime, so a stable connection between the doorbell and Chime is crucial . You might want to check if the Chime is properly placed (within 5 meters of the doorbell to avoid signal issues) and connected to Wi-Fi. Also, ensure the ringtone settings aren’t set to silent or a low volume – the G4 allows customizing doorbell ringtones, so double-check those in the app .

For the detection issues (missing the theft but detecting the dog walker), several factors could be at play. The G4 has a 162° field of view, so confirm the doorbell is angled to cover the area where the theft occurred . Loitering alarms depend on settings like detection interval and sensitivity – if the interval is too long or sensitivity is low, it might not trigger for quick events . Additionally, motion detection could be affected by environmental factors (e.g., backlight or dim light), so adjusting sensitivity in the app (under Device Settings > More Settings > Detection) might help (though this is for face recognition, similar logic applies to motion/loitering).

Have you checked these settings? It might also help to review the app’s event log to see if any motion or loitering alerts were recorded but not pushed. Let us know if you find anything – the community might have more tips!
