I have an Aqara M3 hub with a mix of Aqara Zigbee, Matter and 3d party Matter devices.
Unlike Aqara devices I cannot find information about the Fw version of the 3d party Matter devices. What about updates of Fw for these devices?
you can’t update any 3rd party matter devices with Aqara, not supported
you can find firmware version here:
In the Matter standard, providing updates (acting as an “OTA Provider”) is actually an optional feature for a hub. Since Aqara hasn’t officially documented this capability for third-party gear on the M3, and users aren’t seeing any update prompts for non-Aqara devices in the app, it appears this feature simply isn’t implemented.
You can share your third-party devices via Matter Multi-Admin with an ecosystem that actively supports universal OTA updates. For example, I usually share my devices to Home Assistant, which reliably fetches the update files from the central Matter database (DCL) and pushes them to the devices.
@Sugar While it’s likely true that Aqara doesn’t support these updates yet, the screenshot provided doesn’t actually prove it.
If you check the Distributed Compliance Ledger (DCL)—the central database where Matter manufacturers host their firmware metadata—you’ll see that version 1.2.0 is currently the latest release for this specific IKEA KAJPLATS bulb.
Since the device in the screenshot is already running the newest version available in the DCL, even a controller with full OTA support wouldn’t show an update. We would only know for sure if a new version was published to the DCL and the Aqara app failed to notify the user.

I updated it with iPhone.
I guess you have been using Apple Home app - and a 3rd party Matter controller?
Thanks. Maybe Aqara will change the lable to make it more obvious.
yes, iPhone mini with Aqara m100 hub, home app is matter controller, so you don’t need apple hub for it
if you don’t have any apple phones, then you can set up home assistant on your computer, just for updates
I have mailed with Aqara Support and they confirm that there are no plans to support firmware updates on third-party devices.
Just discovered that WiZ Matter devices only update through the WiZ app. I recommend setting them up in the WiZ app first and checking the firmware version — it should be in the 1.3x range. If not, wait for it to update automatically before adding it to your hub.
This is probably because the manufacturer doesn’t upload any updates to the Distributed Compliance Ledger (DCL). Therefore, it is impossible to receive updates from an ecosystem that actively supports universal over-the-air (OTA) updates.
