So I’ve just fitted E1 valves to all the radiators in my house and have them connected to HA.
Once fitted I ran each one through a calibration where it seems to wind to both full extents.
At one end, it seems to meet resistance and can hear the motor struggling/grinding for 1-2 seconds before it finishes.
Now, every time I turn any of them Off or On, I get that same noise as the calibration where it sounds like it runs the full extent then grinds.
Not something you want happening around the house all day, especially in a baby’s bedroom. Is this normal or is there something up with them?
Hello, unfortunately this is its native work (with noise) when TVR is Off. This process (I don’t understand why) is similar to calibration. If possible, make automation IF the temperature is above the set point THEN set the thermostat to 14°C. I control it like this, in this mode I also save battery power.
Thanks for your reply.
Yeah that was kind of my plan is rather than having them switch off, just set to a lower temperature. However, I wondered if that was going to be a false economy.
Say the read temperature is 20, and it’s set to 14, does it just set itself to a low temperature valve setting, or does it turn the valve off until the temperature drops below 14 at which point it opens to 14?
Hello, my practice shows battery saving, I tested that E1, when the set temperature decreases, simply changes the valve passage to the throughput capacity (does not clamp at full power, as during calibration or closing).
Sets the valve to control 14°C.
Hello @ByteSlinger
Thermostats make noise when operating, this is normal, they are not completely silent, the new thermostat w600 is a little quieter than the E1.
Yeah it’s the grinding noise that I wasn’t sure about, the other noise is expected.
But all 6 of my E1’s make that noise on all the radiators (which includes 3 different styles of radiators), so it’s not like I just fitted one incorrectly.
Not sure if there’s any official Aqara reps on here but just wanted to check, I completely understand the valves making a noise when adjusting, but is the loud grinding sound they make when they turn on or off (as per the end of the adjustments in the video I posted above) normal?
As mentioned, I have this on all of my valves in every room of my house (which includes 3 different design and age radiators).
It renders them useless in bedrooms or any room next to a bedroom as it would wake anyone up if it needed to turn on or off when they are asleep.
